We have been vastly enjoying the 12 days of Christmas stuff. Elder T is very happy to be getting stuff because he never gets mail from his parents because they live all the way in the Marshall Islands. I especially like the cheezy little poems. I should tell you that the Santa mugs, despite what looks like your best efforts, were shattered. i was very excited when i unwrapped today's one and found the reeses peanut butter bars. pretty stoked to make them i'm not going to lie. yes we did get hit by the storm. we almost died a couple times because the roads are so slick. we didn't get snowed in. we only got about five inches so we were alright. newark got like two feet so we didn't get half of the bad stuff. it's still super cold. the work is going amazing. we've had some awesome experiences this week. J has a baptismal date!!!! we are so excited and so was she. when we told her we had a date for her she cried a lot, like bawled for a solid half hour. she was so happy. she hugged everyone (not mission appropriate but i had to play along) and she was just so happy that she is allowed to have this great blessing in her life. she's getting baptised on january the 24th. she's so excited and happy. the Gospel has truly blessed her life so much. we're slowly getting her whole family. we finally met her husband, M (the guy who's catholic and thinks we're the spawn of the devil), he seemed nice enough considering the stuff we've heard about him. but she's so blessed by the Gospel she's been doing missionary work of her own. she was in the store the other day and saw a lady during some tough times who was paying for all her stuff in found pennies and dimes. she talked to her about the church and prayed with her. it was pretty awesome. she loves church and loves the Spirit. I can't wait for her to be baptised. Something we found out recently about her is that before we met her she was contemplating suicide. and now she's the happiest person in the world. it's amazing how much the Gospel can help people and how the Lord provides for his children. When we went home the night we committed J the song Brightly Beams our Father's Mercy came on. That's my new favorite song, even better than How Great Thou Art. You guys should read it sometime this week. it's a beautiful message. Maybe a little explaination. Lighthouses are a constant source of light and direction for sailors. It leads them to safe harbour and dry land. However, when the darkness of night combined with tempest and fog, the lighthouse can be hard to see high upon a cliff above the storm. At these times the keeper of the lighthouse, our Father in Heaven, sends people, often his children, down below the fog with a light. these lights can seem like the feeble attempts to send a small glimmer across the storm tossed sea to a sailor who probably isn't there. but to the tempest tossed seaman. it is a twinkling hope that safety and peace is not far and gives them direction to safe harbour, thus the final words: "You may rescue, You may save" That concept has been made so real to me when we found out that Jessica's life was literally in danger. And we, being the humble servants of the Lord were sent down to her and we rescued and we saved her. i encourage you guys to do the same. to feel the spirit and to reach out to everyone. you never know when someone will need your testimony and your light which can guide them to safe harbour and grant them rest from the storms of this world. i love you all and Happy Christmas!
