E-mail received 12/06/09

ok business before news. sorry if i don't get it out right away i'll forget. i dont get mail every day of the week. only on tuesdays because that's when we see the zone leaders and get mail from the mission home. so no i havent gotten your package yet but i should get it at zone meeting tomorrow. second, it snows here...a lot. so i bought a hat and a scarf (which by the way looks awesome on me because scarfs are for skinny people so it looks good on me) oh and by the way i miss being fat. i was never cold when i was fat. now i'm ALWAYS cold! it sucks. i'm probably buying a sweater today. i'll send you the recipts cuz i'll probably write you a letter today. umm if you could buy me an arguile dress sweater i would love you forever! it gets so cold here. the humidity is so high that it just cuts through your clothes! it's crazy. but they scarf helps so much. and yes. it is hard only getting mail on one day but you dont mind because you're so busy the rest of the week anyway. cool that kt FINALLY got her license. oh and b did email me. stoked. oh by the way i should tell you that i'm not just getting super skinny. i am building muscle too. just so you know. oh funny story. i've gotten to the point where i can eat whatever and still lose weight. like all the other skinny people who suck! it's pretty cool. but anyway now into the spiritual stuff. this week has been a growing week. we've had a lot of really high ups and a lot of really low downs. we'll start with the bad stuff. i dropped my first investigator! SAD! she was a really nice old lady too but she told us that she wasnt willing to change and that she would never be anything but Catholic and she was only seeing us so that she had ammo. We were very sad but we are looking for those who have been prepared by the Lord to see us. Our family with a baptismal date, the C's, decided to push back their baptismal date because of problems with the word of wisdom but i finally did get to meet them. their great people and the man, Mr. C, truely has an inspiring testimony. he believes in the Gospel completely and has so much faith but he drinks tea every day. the word of wisdom came as a bit of a shock to him and he told us that he would have a really hard time quitting but he said, " If it's what the Lord wants me to do than it won't be a problem. " He is such a champion. He doesn't want to get baptised until he knows he can do it 100% because he feels if he did it and he hasn't solved his problems that it would be lying to God. He's an awesome man. We also have two new investigators: J and V. J is the sister of a member and she's met with the missionaries before. She lost contact when she moved. She's received a priesthood blessing before though and she immediately saw the healing power of the Spirit work in her life. She recognizes the power of the priesthood. She has some odd beliefs. For instance, she believes in Guadalupe, some Mexican god. She however is very open to the Gospel and is excited to learn. V is from Guyana. She's originally Hindu. she's been investigating Christianity for some time and she wanted to know about the Mormons. She has a cute 2 year old son named A who she wants to have the blessing of religion in his life. She hates the view of a ragefull wrathful God and wants to know that her heavenly Father loves her. We told her a little bit about the restoration and she likes the idea that God loves his children and would always want to guide them. We gave her the Book of Mormon and is excited and eager to read it. we're meeting with her on Tuesday to ask about her reading and invite her to church. we're so excited for her and how she will progress. Spiritual highlight of this week would definitely be yesterday, which was Sunday. We had to go to a dinner appointment in andover, which is at the edge of our area, so we had to drive a long way to get there. we got there like 25 minutes early and decided to go tract a few houses in the neighborhood. it's a very rich neighborhood. Rich neighborhoods are next to impossible to get a good investigator from because they're either really strong Catholics or they don't feel that they need God in their life and so they turn us away. We were driving down the street and then Elder Thomas said park the car! He felt that there was someone here that we needed to teach. The houses were so far spread apart we only had time to knock on four doors. At the third house we knocked the garage was open and we saw B fooling around with some stuff in his garage. He saw us and we introduced ourselves as missionaries. He seemed interested and he asked us from what church. We said we were from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He said OH MY GOSH! he said to follow him into the house and he grabbed his wife and said you will never guess who's here! it's the mormon missionaries! she said NO WAY! she ran up to us and was ecstatic that we were there. they told us that they had just been talking about Mormon missionaries and wondering if there were any in the area and how they might be able to find us. Classic awesome. They told us they were busy with a project right then but that we HAD to come back to teach them. We asked them when would be a good time and they excitedly told us next sunday. as we left B came running out the door and demanded our number so that they could schedule a time they could meet with us during the week and have us over for an evening or something. we walked away on air. we were wondering if that had just happened! on top of that the dinner appointment we went to knew B and C. they were the first to welcome them into the neighborhood and their kids did stuff together. they're excited to fellowship them and we are so excited to teach them. it was truly amazing to see how the Lord prepares a way and puts people in our way that we are meant to teach at this place, at this time, and be where, what, and who we need to be in order to bring people unto Christ. i know that the work i'm doing here is the work of God and that the Church is true. i hope everyone has a great week and a blessed day.
